General Area Information
Fishermen will enjoy the sport of catching pan fish, bass, pike, and there are even stories of walleyes being caught right off the dock. A row boat is available at no charge for those wanting to try their luck fishing other areas of the lake or just take a ride around the shoreline.
Mid-day, families enjoy swimming, sunning and water activities. Bring along the speed boat or personal watercraft and enjoy great days in the sun. A fire pit is available for a great way to end a busy day. Sit back, relax and watch the sun set. Don't forget the marshmallows!
Bring your snowmobiles in the winter for great riding on the local trail systems. Snowmobilers can leave the cabin and within minutes be in the Manistee National Forest. These trails will take a rider all the way to the Baldwin, Iron, and Cadillac Trails, north to Wellston or Kaleva and even into the Manistee Trail Systems. You're even close enough to trailer up to Traverse City (1.5 hours) for day rides.
If you're not a snowmobiler but enjoy getting away, Ford Lake Cottages are the perfect place. Try ice fishing on the lake, winter festivals, cross country skiing and your only 45 minutes away from down-hill skiing (Cadillac).
Spring and Fall in northern Michigan is very relaxing and a great way to get away. Many enjoy quiet nature walks, fishing, and hunting. Special rates available during Spring and Fall. A great place for hunters as Ford Lake Cottages is only minutes from the Manistee National Forest for hunters, mushroomers or nature viewing. Also, many great rivers nearby for fishing, canoeing or kayaking.
Other nearby attractions include the Little River Casino, Manistee National Forest, Manistee River, Pere Marquette and Sauble River, all known for great fishing and canoeing. Don't forget that Lake Michigan is only minutes away. Take the kids for a special day out; Michigan's Adventure Amusement Park (owned by Cedar Point) is one hour away in Muskegon.
